Go to Vegas once or twice a year. Always wanted to go to Gallagher's but never seemed to happen. Finally on our Feb. 2017 trip we made advance reservations for Valentines Day and had dinner there before our 8pm show at The Park theater next door.
Here's the good. The place is nice looking enough. Our server Derek was fantastic -- very personable and excellent at his craft. In addition to him, there's a person that busses the table and came by often to make sure our water glasses were always topped off. And after our salad course made sure all bread crumbs were wiped from the table (a bread basked of sour dough French and cranberry rye is served). Truly great service!
We each had Caesar salad that was very fresh. Served on a flat plate, the romaine leaves are left long, drizzled with dressing and croutons. So one cuts the lettuce themselves. Salad was tasty. We ordered 3 sides -- creamed spinach, mushroom medley, and pureed Yukon gold potatoes. Sides were okay.
Here's the thing though.....ordered their Signature steak -- NY Strip bone in ($48). Ordered medium rare and cooked perfectly. Problem was the meat. It had grizzle and way too much fat. It just was a poor cut of meat and they tout it as their Signature cut?!?! Derek was sympathetic and offered amends. He offered to have them cook a new one, but we did not have time for that with our upcoming show. He offered to comp dessert but again didn't have time or cared for dessert then either. I thanked him, told him I appreciated that and we'd just take the check. He brought the check and he didn't charge us for either salad. Really a stand up thing to do and I didn't even ask for any compensation. So 5 stars for service, 5 stars for knowing how to take care of a customer.....but darn it.....it's a steakhouse and the steak just wasn't good. Maybe we'll give them another shot one day.
