Overall this is the typical Marriott. I travel quite often and have experienced the much more modernized and renovated Marriott's. The one in Middleton is a bit outdated compared to those, but is still reliable and comfortable. I usually stay here whenever I am in Madison for business.
The hotel has an open atrium with the guest rooms surrounding it going up about 10 floors. I get a little anxious walking down the hallway as one side is open to the atrium.
One a couple of occasions (including this one), I was upgraded to a larger king suite. They are huge, with space for a couch and lounge chair. The bathroom is about the same size as the other guest rooms (tiny).
The concierge lounge (on floor 10) is also standard and consistent. I like coming here for the breakfast in the morning, and for the dessert and coffee in the evening. There is also a breakfast buffet in the restaurant in the mornings. I have had dinner downstairs in the bar, and the food is okay. It's not 5 star Michelin quality but is decent for a hotel restaurant.
