On June 9 I had them test my pool water and I was told the "Phosphates" were "high" so they sold me a $24.99 bottle of chemicals (Pool Tonic) to solve the problem. The bottle says it will treat a 20,000 gallon pool. My pool is only 12,000 gallons so I was confident it would do the job. I followed the instructions on the bottle and went in a week later for another water test. The test said my phosphates were still way high. I was told by a different sales person that it is "not uncommon" to need a couple treatments. They talked me into another bottle of the same phosphate remover for another $24.99. I again used the whole bottle and followed the instructions. Went in for a water test today and guess what. The phosphates are still way high. I told them the above scenario and said I wanted a refund for the chemicals they sold me that obviously don't work. No go on that one. After a call to the "manager" I was told I could either ignore the phosphate problem as it might be a "false reading" and just make sure I "keep the chlorine level high" to avoid algae, OR I could buy a bottle of a different phosphate remover that was even MORE expensive ($32). At his point I left the store.
