| - Came here with 8 other people around 12pm. Have been very excited to try Wong's and their super unique flavors. They did not disappoint one bit! Nothing basic about this place and their flavors.
You can tell it just opened, very nice interior that's fresh and clean. The servers are all super nice too. I had almost every flavor they make, all of them were exceptional and exactly what I was looking for.
For my own order I got the Candied Ginger and Rosewater White Chocolate. Both were expertly crafted, very thoughtful flavors and were delicious. The Black Sesame w/ Salted Egg Yolk is so damn good though and I wish I got that as well but only so much room in the stomach. The Chocolate Yuzu was awesome too, such a perfect mix of flavors, everything was in harmony. Wong's is for sure unique and stands on its own among the hordes of ice cream places in Toronto - you can't just decide to open up an ice cream place like Wong's, you can taste that they put a lot of thought and care into the food.
While hey, just like everyone else I LOVE getting a giant milkshake with a pie slice on top and everything else you can think of too.... it's really special to see a place like Wong's elevate the category all while being nice and inviting, NOT pretentious. This kind of thought behind the making of ice cream you could for sure expect any fine dining establishment in Toronto to try their hand at while charging 15$ a scoop. Not here, the prices for what you get and the quality are very reasonable (think I spent 7$ for 2 scoops and they were big). For me that was the big plus - usually you get people being super creative flavor wise in the fine dining category, so it's nice to see a humble shop go nuts and get really creative all the while serving high quality and tasty stuff, not just for impact.
Everyone I took LOVED this place so much, and they are hard to please. Usually the things I like (Sanremo Bakery in Etobocoke mmmm) are too sweet for their liking, so for us to all come together on something about desert is special indeed :) Thank you Wong's Ice Cream!
