  • Beginning with making the appointment is where it all went wrong. I call on Friday morning and the person on the phone said they want to get me in as soon as possible and if I could come in that day at 1pm. I made the appointmemt and got myself and my 6 & 8 year old ready to brave the summer heat, at the worst part of the day here with a warning because of the air quality from the fires. When I arrive they have me sign in and take a seat to be called up to check in. At some point the person at the front desk asks me how old my children are. Then she tells me that children are not allowed at these appointments and asks if I have a neighbor that can come watch them. No, I have no neighbors that can come babysit my kids in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. So she says I will have to reschedule. I let her know I was frustrated because I wasted my time, the person on the phone should have advised me to make arrangements for my children. So she tells me to hold on while she goes in back to speak with someone. I am sitting with my children in the waiting area and there is a room full of people waiting also. Then a woman walks over to where I am sitting, standing over me, she begins chastising me in front of everyone! She said there are signs on the wall that clearly say No Children and that because of. "the severity" of the situation she will watch them this one time but she can lose her job for this! I told her I don't want you to watch my kids, I never asked for that. After she was done humiliating me, I was called in the back for insurance/billing. They did not have it together, I heard the woman ask "what should I charge her?". After she asked to collect $50 from me but I was short. She asked me when I could pay the rest and I said, "Today, I can go get it right now real quick." She said if I don't hurry I will not be seen. So I just said I need to cancel right now so I can come without children and the $50. I didn't want to take a chance of not being seen because it is so hot and I am pregnant in my first trimester. So she said, "Don't you want to reschedule?" I told her not right now because I have to arrange a sitter first. They called my doctor and told them I walked out on my ultrasound. Still, not one person at the office or when you call to make an appointment acknowledges it would be beneficial if they let people know prior to arrival that no children are allowed. It seems much easier than just telling people all the babysitting laws they have to remember. It is not as though I were showing up with my pets! How was I to know? This is a common complaint at all locations so why not correct it? Thankfully my doctors office has someone doing ultrasounds in the office again and I don't have to go here. I spent the weekend worried about what they know that I don't regarding the "severity" of my situation.
