I recommend going at a non-peak time - otherwise you'll end up waiting at each hole, which can be difficult if you go with kids. We went on a summer afternoon, and there was a camp bus, and LOTS of kids. Definitely a fun time for the kids - the three courses that they offer are fun themed - with local "landmarks" from Madison on the inside course.
The arcade area is fun, but I think it's a rip-off. The tokens are three for a dollar, and many games take two tokens. I wish they'd offer other prizes, too. When my niece tried to trade her 21 tickets for a prize, most of the prizes in that ticket range were sugar candies or really junky bracelets. However, I think the main attraction is the golf, so I plan to take her back to enjoy that!
