Prior to the remodel I would say the service was 3 stars at best. Our recent experience on 01/13 was the WORST ever.
We've been going here for YEARS. I'm afraid those days are over.
Waited nearly 5 minutes to be seated. No waiting list. That was the time prior to anyone even acknowledging we were standing there.
While the food hasn't changed; it still good; the service was horrible. One server. Took us two hours to be seated, order, get served, eat and pay.
Had to ask constantly for refills on beverages. Server came by once to see if we were ok.
The salsa "bowl" was maybe 2 oz. We asked for a larger bowl; brought us the same damn size. Some chips in the basket were gummy! Yuck.
I don't know how anyone feels good serving that.
The restroom has NO soap. The soap dispenser was empty. They had a bottle of soap on the counter that someone had added water to GROSS.
One of the stall "out of order".
Light fixtures over the sink; all but one bulb was burned out.
NO TOILET PAPER.
Did I mention these just went through a remodel!!!!
To the owners of Sylvia's. I'd recommend new staff and manager before NO ONE comes to visit. Because clearly what's being done now is only hurting your business.
God luck. We won't be back. I'll drive all the way downtown to La Canasta next time.
