I have been a customer of this Chase branch for 1 month now. Here is my experience:
*On my first visit I was immediately and warmly greeted and the young man opening my account was professional and polite. When I told him that I was also considering moving a large portion of my IRA to this bank, he introduced me to the IRA professional and both employees patiently answered all my questions.
*Six days after I opened my account I received a letter from Chase advising me that they had been unable to verify the check I used to open my account and that all of my funds were on hold (not available to me). I called right away and was told that I needed to call back the next day when my credit union was open so that they could do a 3-way call to confirm that the check had cleared. I called back the next day (day 7 since my deposit) and did the 3-way call. The credit union sounded surprised that Chase was unaware that the check had cleared 6 days earlier (the day after the check was deposited at Chase).
*Bottom line: When a bank is unaware that checks have cleared and that the monies are now in their bank (and continues to place a hold on funds already in their possession) then I can only assume that they are incompetent. The bank manager did do a follow-up call to me and I did advise him that I am no longer considering Chase for my IRA funds due to this incident.
