| - It doesn't matter how good your product is- if your customers cannot get to it.
I popped in today to grab some donuts for my squad and they were installing a big new sign above the display counter. There were five customers already queued up. Apparently the owners are from NY, and were yelling at the installers and they were going back and forth as to exact placement. Listen, I love family fights as much as the next guy, which is why I host Thanksgiving dinner- but when you're just trying to make a donut purchase but cannot, it's annoying.
I'm surprised they didn't do the sign install before peak morning hours. Or do the install but have an employee nearby who can still take and process orders.
The most egregious thing that happens here though, is a $3.00 penalty tax for "allowing" a customer to choose their own donuts. You read that right. If you want to select your dozen donuts, these dudes charge and extra $3.00. That is just insanity. It's not the money, it's the principle that they are making such a horrid money grab over the most basic of transactions. Imagine going to Nordstrom's and having to pay extra money to leave with the items you wanted. OR you can save some money and just take what the employee wants you to have.
I'm genuinely surprised that they have customers who are willing to submit to this beyond tacky practice. That's not how you show appreciation to customers so instead I will go to Bosa, Rainbow, Golden, Dunkin, etc. where they don't charge you an additional penny to get what you want.
