im gonna make this quick b/c im typing with one hand (and not b/c im getting excited about world class bakers- get your mind out the gutter!! broke my hand while mountain biking yesterday).
1. staff: they're pretty, but pretty cold too. they gave us a confused look when we asked for menus before pointing to the few on display above the bakers window.
2. service: more like self serve. you order (cash only). you wait. you get called. you pick up your order. and you enjoy (hopefully!). they do clear the tables (though maybe to keep things moving since it was busy.)
3. coffee: oh coffee how i enjoy thee. i asked for a light roast because i was feeling a bit sleepy...was given a cup and told to fill up on the rack a few feet away. unfortunately 2 of the coffee dispensers were empty-another customer and i had to inform them...which leaves me to question the freshness (being a barista not too long ago).
4. food: the eggs with chorizo was decent, the scalloped potatoes were good, and the sour dough bread was perfect. my only hold-back with the food was the fresh fruit garnish-1 lonely and sad sliver of watermelon.
Overall, the food was good (base measure of a restaurant imho)...but my expectations were already set pretty high since it was a bit pricey. i was pretty indifferent about the self-service, but i would have appreciated a more welcoming attitude from the staff. i'd come here again but likely only if i was in the area to pick up a good loaf of bread.
ps. if you have a large group ~10 people i'd suggest this place wont be good for you...its even busy on off-meal time hours (we were there at 2pm sunday...kinda reminds me of an upscale coffee shop)...but that could be a sign that the food is decent.
