  • Dropped by Petite Thuet on a Friday for a little post-lunch lunch and I'm almost regretting it because I know I'm going to have to drop by more often. Considering it doubles my usual lunch time budget, this could be a catastrophe waiting to happen. I've swung by to have their coffees and scones before (lemon & blackcurrent scone cannot be beat) but when I went by for lunch I had my eye on the real brunch prize, the infamous croque monsieuer. As I understand it, the croque monsieur is a buttered, grilled biscuit-y bread, thicker but in flavour to challah bread, with delicious melted cheese and ham. This thing looks small but it is a monster when it comes to taste and just as rich and filling. The sandwich itself runs just about $8, combined with a coffee just squeaked over the $11 mark but if you're getting scones or a dessert item too, it could come to about fifteen bucks. But trust me, you will not regret it and will be going back soon. The staff is super professional and dare I say, charming? And the seating is suited to a quick drop by, with barstools and high tables as well as a few small, slightly cramped tables and chairs. You don't need to stay too long though, the food will be gone sooner than you know it.
