| - The Omni would not be my 1st choice of hotels in downtown Charlotte because the place is certainly showing it's age as an older property. In my opinion, Aloft or the Westin are much better choices. However, I keep coming back because of corporate functions that are planned by someone else.
As I said in my previous review, the meeting spaces are good and staff does a great job with regards to food service, valet parking, check in, etc.
At yesterday's event, the food was fairly good... I had a salad with grilled chicken for lunch. The salad was fresh & chicken was fine. No complaints.
After our meetings for the day were over, we had a reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres & bar. The food was ok for that as well. Nothing that bowled me over but it was standard hotel fare.
My room was clean & king size bed was very comfy. However, once again it was pretty noisy & we could hear much of what was going on in neighboring rooms. Also, the bathrooms in the rooms are really bad. Very tiny, no fan, and the bathtub was in rough shape. Also, each time the toilet was flushed, the water ran for a really long time. They really need to do a major renovation to update the bathrooms & install noise blocking insulation between each room.
I didn't encounter any potential bug issues on my last couple of stays here, so the one time I noticed bug bites on my leg after a stay here must have been an anomaly.
So, overall, this Omni is a-ok, not my personal favorite place to stay but decent.
