I came to Elizabeth with a gown I had ordered from a high-end salon in the correct size. Like many women, my body is not completely proportional so I needed the bust taken in about two inches. I also asked for a hem and a bustle. Elizabeth was not able to appropriately bustle the dress, insisting that I safety pin the bustle to get the desired look (after charging $200.00+ for a 5 point). She also created a highly visible amount of bunching in the chest from taking it in, and suggested I hide the bunching with embroidery from the hem of my gown. If I didn't like the way it looked she suggested I "just cut it off." When it came to alterations in the chest, Elizabeth suggested that I add in a b-cup to "fill the dress out." I insisted that I was an a-cup but she persuaded me to put the b-cup in anyway. When trying on the dress the second time, the cups sat away from my body. I asked if we could just leave them out. She was happy to do this, simply allocating the $85+ dollars for the bra to the bustle that miraculously went up in price by exactly $85. My dress was designed with a low back, but Elizabeth kept bringing the straps further into the middle (to accommodate my small chest?) bringing my dramatic v-back higher and higher until it sat extremely far away from my body. Having no experience with bridal alterations, I really didn't know what to say or do. It's not in my nature to challenge a "professional." In the end, I had to take my dress to another seamstress two weeks before the wedding and have all of the work re-done. I honestly feel like I gave Elizabeth $500.00 for absolutely nothing. If anything, she damaged a dress I was hoping to re-sell.
