| - I recently got married where I live in San Jose California. There was no one else I wanted for a matron of honor than my best friend from college, who lives in Madison. I also wanted her daughter, my goddaughter, to be a junior bridesmaid. My friend has a busy career and two young kids so I opted for David's Bridal thinking that would make life easier for them. Instead it turned into a stressful nightmare.
My friend took her daughter to the Mineral Point store in October, well before my February wedding. I provided a detailed email with all the information she needed to order their dresses. Here is the email that I received on October 21, after that first visit:
"Sorry if I was a little short on the phone; our sales lady was messing up just about everything."
"First, I specifically showed the staff your email with catalog # and sangria color. She handed me the dress off the rack and I tried it on. I thought it was odd that the tag said "wine." I almost bought it off the rack (they had my size) and had to ask twice if wine was the same as sangria. Finally, while she was ringing me up, I asked once more if this was actually sangria because I thought it seemed darker than what you had described. "Oh my gosh, you're right, sangria is a different color." In the end, they ordered the right dress."
"Then, the lady kept telling me that she was having a hard time ordering because your wedding was listed in September. Again, I told her - no it is in February. So, after all the stuff above, she listed everything on an order for some woman named "K*** H***" [similar, but different name] in Hollywood. I caught that error on the receipts for the jackets. This was too funny, because at this point, I had again handed her a printout of your email below with all the details - color, catalog numbers, jackets, and your full name! (The name confusion was also why they thought your wedding was in September.)"
If that was not stressful enough, here is the email I got from her on January 18 when the last dress finally arrived:
"Just letting you know, that David's Bridal made an error in ordering [my goddaugher's] dress. They recommended the size 6 junior bridesmaids dress (which is for a junior girl, so maybe a 12 year old) rather than flagging that [my 8 year old goddaughter] is way too small for that and should have had some form of a flower girls dress. She tried the dress on, and the alterations were going to be $145 (on top of the dress) to fix it."
My friend confessed to me that she had a "professional meltdown" before the manager agreed to refund the dress cost and the alteration rush charge, and she agreed to pay the remaining alterations (they had to shorten or take in every part of the dress).
Once all was said and done the dresses were beautiful. And I will say that my experience in the San Jose store was just fine. But I am so sorry that I had to put my best friend through such an ordeal to be in my wedding. I would not recommend this Mineral Point Road location to anyone. If David's is the best option, please go to another location.
