| - Let me start off by saying that prior to this experience I have had no other experience with remodeling, landscaping, or design. When we decided to do a complete overhaul of our home, inside and out, I didn't know where to start. We started with the interior and the process was very smooth, easy, and pain-free, so I expected the process for our outdoors (front and back) to be the same. However, this was NOT at all what happened UNTIL I found Alexon Design and Landscaping.
I contacted 2 other companies prior to working with Alexon and had awful experiences. The first kept me waiting for my initial consultation for 30 minutes, then finally called to say he would be there within the next half hour. First impressions mean a lot and that really didn't make me overly excited to work with this company. The second company was initially great with communication, then on the DAY OF the consultation meeting the designer called me (about an hour before the meeting) to tell me that he didn't want to fight driving through rush hour traffic to meet with me. Really? I'm paying thousands of dollars to do this project and you aren't willing to drive for that? The owner of that company sent me an email later defending the designer's actions and basically berating me as a customer for not understanding.
At this point I was really discouraged about finding anyone to work with. When we received a referral for Alexon I was initially hesitant but set up a time to meet because I really wanted to get my project done! Our designer, Shawn, was early to the consultation and already had some great ideas just from looking at the land and hearing my concept. About a week later he had drafted 3D renderings of the project (based on what I said I wanted) along with a breakdown of the pricing for each item. At that point we took out some items, added others, and started deciding on the types of materials, colors, etc. There was no pressure whatsoever to stick to the original rendering - all changes to the initial design were done quickly, easily, and to our satisfaction.
When all the permits went through and materials were selected they started the project. This was a very big project with tons of hardscape, 2 firepits, 1 fireplace, lots of lighting, synthetic grass all over, re-doing pool decking and a hot tub - a complete overhaul of both the front and backyards. The crew was fantastic, always on time, worked hard all day, got everything done as planned. The project manager sent me an email every evening outlining the progress as well as the next steps.
End product is fantastic. I honestly can't imagine how they could have done a better job. We had a few issues with some lights after the completion and Shawn and his team came out to our home many times until it was fixed to our satisfaction. I have since referred them to many friends who have done other projects and are also completely satisfied. When we decide to completely re-do our pool interior we will definitely use Alexon again.
