| - Maybe I got lucky.
I signed up for Extreme Fitness with a 2 month groupon with my boyfriend. I was absolutely terrified of going in because I heard of the pushy sales people. When I finally made my trip in, the sales person didn't try to pitch me anything (surprisingly). He just showed me around.
I was quite disappointed when I saw the gym itself though. From the streetview, it looks bright but inside, it's very dim and looks somewhat like a prison gym. All the equipment is very cramped together (barely any walking space between each machine). The gym is divided into four floors. First floor is mainly weights, machines, and spin. Second and third floors are ellipticals. Fourth floor is studio space. There's also another separate studio space near the women's change room that I really liked to use because barely anyone went there. The floors are also open concept, like you could see the first, second floors from the third, etc.
Anyway, my first fitness test, I expected to be pushed into personal trainer classes. But my instructor was very friendly and did not try to sell me anything (also surprising).
In conclusion: The gym is ugly but it's not the worst. There's a good selection of equipment but it's quite old. I did my own thing and no one really bothered me. Didn't extend my membership because I'm poor.
Also, the receptionists were not very nice, except the one on Friday. They're not rude but they're not particularly nice either. They kinda just stare at you when you ask them questions.
P.S. Something I didn't like was that I always got phone calls from Extreme Fitness. So annoying. Also, weird story: a salesperson called me a week after I first went and he told me he was my "new representative" because my original one left. And when I asked him where my original rep was, all my new rep said was "Bob* is gone." SCARY.
*Name change! don't want to expose anyone! Lol.
