| - I had a very unpleasant experience at the Hertz rental counter in the Pittsburgh International Airport on January 6. The Hertz representative made statements to me conveying the following "information":
1. Hertz is different from all other car rental companies, because it leases its cars instead of owning them. Therefore, you have no insurance on the rental car.
2. Because you have a discounted rate, you have no insurance on the rental car.
3. Since you said your auto insurer is Nationwide, you only have insurance on the rental car if it is the exact same make and model as the car you own.
The representative appeared to be experienced, not new or untrained. I know exactly what coverage I have through my personal auto insurance and my credit card. She made these contradictory and ridiculous statements with no hesitation. I can only conclude that she was either instructed, or on her own initiative decided, to make misleading statements in an attempt to sell Hertz coverage, which I did not purchase. In an aggressive manner, she warned over and over again that I had no insurance coverage on the rental car. At no point did she greet me, ask me how I was, smile, wish me a pleasant trip, or thank me for being a customer. There a plenty of car rental companies out there. I will probably not be renting from Hertz again.
