I donate frequently thinking that perhaps I am helping those less fortunate. Happy to give all I can...give generously and some very nice...and sometimes brand new...items. In my mind, I imagine the people who are struggling that will have very nice things that they would otherwise be unable to afford. This past weekend, I went there with a friend (an artist who is also a school teacher on a school teacher's salary) to PURCHASE. Specifically, she was looking for used picture frames for some of her art projects. While she looked through frames, old paintings/artwork/pictures, etc., I perused the store. I was shocked and quite frankly appalled at how high they price items. Shame on you!!! I came across some "used" items that I suspect may have been priced higher than they were originally paid for. Very, VERY disappointed to the extent that I don't think with good conscience I can donate there again. I always considered Goodwill as a place that helps people in need but clearly they are out to PROFIT. Their prices are very inflated!! I was so disheartened. I'd rather drive around town, open my trunk and offer up my used belongings to those in need truly free of charge as it is meant to be donated.
