| - One of my dear friends who lives in Seattle invited me to help him celebrate his 50th birthday in Las Vegas on June 25th, and they were staying at The Mirage.
Have been wanting to try a pastrami Reuben here for about two years, and this was gonna be my opportunity! At 10:00 am! While I was extremely enthused about the sandwich, don't usually stretch my guts to capacity that early.
Will get to it-
Ambiance/Cleanliness-Well, it sure ain't like any of the delis in NYC that I grew up with....it's like a coffee shop/diner as filtered though Las Vegas functionality. Clean....nothing very special....3 stars.
Service-The hostess was lovely, but when I ordered my sandwich, the manager said that they were out of pastrami, and I got fairly nasty, fairly quickly. Magically, the necessary pastrami was located, and we were in business. Food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Since they made it happen, something that should NEVER happen again....4 stars.
Food-One of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. It was superb! My friends had breakfast food, and I can't comment on that, other to say, I don't see the point. My Reuben? Perfectly toasted rye, with a nice Russian/Thousand Island dressing, perfectly drained sauerkraut and a solid maybe 12+ ounces of delightful pastrami, hand cut with melted Swiss cheese on top. It would make a fabulous last meal! I'm subtracting 1 star for the price of $25.00. That's steep!...4 stars
I'll be back for sure.
