rev:text	So after reading these rave reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place to celebrate his birthday. I made reservations about three weeks in advance, noting that we'd really want a table, as we heard that they "typically" seat parties of two at the bar, but will try to accommodate requests. The lady I made reservations with said that they'd put that down, so we assumed we'd be getting a table. The day of the dinner, we walk in, and were asked if the bar seating was okay. I asked about my reservations, and whether we could please get a table instead, but the hostess rudely said that it would have to be at least 9pm before they had an open table, as they only keep them for larger parties. Disappointed, we made our way to the bar and perused the menu. Within five minutes of us sitting down, the table of two behind us left. I waited to see whether the hostess would let us know that a table had opened but, but instead, the table was left open for over 15 minutes before another couple walked in and were given the table right away, even though there was bar seating still available. There was another empty double table for at least 4 people open at the window area the entirety of our meal. This was extremely disappointing, and had greatly ruined our mood before the meal even started. As for the food, we ordered the whitefish beignets, fried mushrooms, delicata squash and roasted potatoes to start, all four of which were good. As for larger plates, I would not recommend the miso-marinated spring chicken, which came in 3 tiny pieces, hardly larger than my finger, and no miso flavor whatsoever. I also would not recommend the shiitake, ricotta dumplings in broth - the broth was overwhelmingly earthy, and the flavors did not seem to balance well. Although our bartender/server was very nice, and our appetizer/small plates were delicious (hence the 3 stars, although this is more of a 2.5), the rest of our meal was underwhelming. In addition, until this place can get its seating organization in check, we will not be returning.
