| - Recently check out this for my first time with a group of about 10+ for a friends birthday. Overall the location decor and environment were great, unique in the area and right along the canal in oldtown. Great Patio and live music made for a wonderful environment. Food overall was fantastic and the prices where not extreme. I am right on the cusp of 3 and 4 stars but as they were easily fixable small issues I gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. My complaints where service related, there was nothing major but there were several things that that are small but would have made my experience 5 stars if properly exicuted.
First off I have only been to a Tapas restaurant a few times and for those who don't know you get allot of small plates instead of 1 big meal. Its fun when properly executed. The first issue was apparent right away 10+ people lots of small plates, we had asked when reservation was made about separate checks they said no problem. When brought up during ordering you would think that we asked for the waiters first born daughter. Its the 21st century if you cant assign seat numbers and teach you staff how to set it up in your POS system there are issues. Either way be consistent with what you say, anyway ill wrap back to this. Everyone started ordering small plates and big plates (full meals). Food started coming out and no one knew where it went because everyone ordered a bunch of stuff and when you look at the menu you will understand why no one remembered exactly what they ordered. Already back at seat numbers, help you staff and your clients its easy go to a chili's they can teach you how to do it. Next issue there was 1 server for the whole section of the patio, other tables where clearly upset and we as the big table still did not get service because they where spending so much time with the other 6 tables in there section. You lost out on at least 2-3 rounds of drinks by not having a second server backing you up or helping in the section. I am sure some other reviews around this time will reflect the small table perspective of this as they looked pissed.
Everything was going well have been there for over an hour at this point rounds of tapas coming out everyone at the table has eaten and we are getting ready to get the tab. Except the 3 people who got meals, still did not have their food. At this point I was very hungry having watched the whole table eat these great little plates people even ordered seconds that came out way before my meal. If there is going to be a 45 min difference in delivery you should warn clients, clearly the kitchen is not set up to handle both. Ill leave it at that, simple sentence and would not have been an issue. Lastly we finally ate now it was actually time for the bill, well just like i said it was a nightmare. Brought a long bill that took forever to break down manually, then once we did it took them 25 min to process it. All and all it actually was not a great experience and rethinking it right now I am going to have to change it to 3 star because they said they could split on the phone then refused to leading to allot of the bad experience. Although with a couple or with one person picking up the check this would not be an issue but i would avoid it if you have more then 1 person paying. I will be going back though it was a great atmosphere and food, will update this when I do....
