Today during my lunch break I made a impulsive visit to the Skechers store at AZ Mills mall to become very disappointed with the outcome.
I was doing some last minute Mothers Day shopping and thought I would buy a pair of Shape-ups as a gift. I went into the store on a time limit because I was on my lunch break. I swiftly made a selection of shoes and took them to the register for purchase. The nice girl that was ringing me up informed me that if I make buy a 2nd pair of shoes I will get 1/5 off the 2nd pair. How could I resist, right! So I decided to get a pair for myself. After trying on a few pairs I found one that I liked. I went up to the register with my 2nd pair and she began to ring me up.
Much to my surprise the girl looked up at me and said there was a problem and that the scanner was not ringing up my 2nd pair for 1/2 off. She gets her manager to assist and her manager informs me that the 1st pair of shoes that I chose did not qualify as part of the sales promo. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked her to override the transaction and she declined. To top it off her body language and verbal communication indicated that she (1) did not care, and (2) was not surprised by the confusion.
At this point I told the manager that there were no clear indicators on the sales floor of which shoes were and were not part of the sales promo. She just kind of shrugged her shoulders as she walked away to leave the other girl to handle the rest of the situation. I told her that I was not going to purchase anything due to the unsatisfactory circumstances. I then walked out empty handed and I let the manager know I would be writing a review. I will say the 1st girl that helped me was very nice and I could tell she wanted to help, but she did not have the authority to override the transaction. On the other hand, the manager was not only unhelpful, she was extremely rude and lacked communication skills you would expect from a manager.
Unfortunately I will be going back to the same store this evening to purchase 1st pair of shoes that I was going to get only because I have to as a gift.
