I am one week post-op from having surgery at the Durango Surgery Center. I was very impressed on how fast I was in and out of the center. The staff was very friendly (everyone introduced themselves with a smile) and very efficient and effective in getting all the necessary pre-op and post-op procedures done so that I get into surgery and out of recovery in a timely get curious manner.
All of my questions and concerns were answered (even all the of questions I had after surgery while still loopy from anesthesia). The facility was clean and there was an appropriate amount of privacy for each patient.
Even while in the O.R. getting prepped for anesthesia all of the O.R. staff (nurses, techs, surgeon, anesthesia doc.) were chatting with me making me feel very comfortable and making sure I didn't feel alone as they began their work.
Having worked in the medical field I thought the placement of my I.V. was odd (placed at the DRUJ). It was at the the bending point of the outside of my wrist and was quite uncomfortable and left a nice bruise the following day. But besides that small and mostly insignificant annoyance my experience was great! The staff also kept my boyfriend who was my care taker very informed and allowed him to bring flowers into recovery (not all centers allow that).
A special thanks to Raquel the circulating nurse who "drove" me to the OR and stood by my side as I went under and to all the nurses and relevant staff who looked after me before and after my 3 hour surgery. I will be sure to recommend this center.
