  • Bawdy, crude, crass, risque, but all in good fun (for the most part - see further critique below). Not for the puritanical. For the most part, it was a joyful celebration of sensuality and sex. Stellar acrobatic performances. The majority of the performances are about showcasing the human body (i.e. there were a lot fewer contraptions or apparatuses than other Cirque shows), which was amazing to see but kinda started to blend in together by the end. The drag queen host was fun and fabulous. And there are a lot of audience interactions, which are mostly fun, but some of them made me uncomfortable. There were some that bordered on not establishing consent, and felt more like peer pressure than volunteer-finding (like, the pair of rotund sisters rubbing their bosom in audience's faces. The assumption is "it's all in good fun!" but I wonder if some audience members didn't really want that level of closeness). The worst audience volunteer interaction during the performance I saw, however, was when a man who seemed to not speak English was called onto the stage by the two clown-hosts (the male/female couple), and then was pretty much forced to take his shirt off and dance. That isn't so bad, I suppose, but then he was mocked by the male clown host for not speaking a "damn word of English." It really ruined the moment for me, because the rest of the show does a good job at making us feel like we're all laughing together. But this one somehow felt diminishing. That said, I do think the line was improvised, so I attribute the poor taste of joking to the male clown host actor rather than the whole show itself. The female clown host did a much better job at keeping everything fun and flirty and in good spirits. Any digs she made to the audience were in the context of taking digs at herself. The male clown host just seemed to think he was great and the belittling felt more from a place of aggression than silliness. All that to say, we got half-price tickets through the MyVegas game app, so for that price, it was a good deal. Don't know that I'd watch it again, definitely not at full price.
