  • I love this place. Having been on a bit of a Menchie's binge (three times a week for ... too many weeks) we decided to try this place because we felt bad assuming nothing could ever match up to Menchies. This is self-serve too, so it's the same kind of set-up as Menchies, but with two minor bad points. First of all, the sample cups are locked away in a cabinet, so you still have to ask staff can you try each of the flavours. This is something I hate doing, because it makes me feel like a bit of a freeloader. However, this is likely because the machines seem to suffer from some unexpected spooging when you pull down the handle (the second bad point!). A little friendly advice would be to pull down the handle and let the melted yogurt left in the nozzle drip into the drip-tray before sticking your cup under. You'll skip the melted, watery yogurt and avoid the little crazy cough-splutter that the machines make before the flow of yogurt starts. Those two little nitpicks aside, this place has a much, much healthier vibe than Menchies. Far fewer flavours (six, I think), but they're creamy and smooth. There's also less sweets on the toppings bar, which is awesome because I am like a 6-year-old around candy -- doesn't matter how wrong it is, it always feels so right. The yogurt is smooth and creamy (real dairy!!) and super, super tasty. Price-wise it's a few cents more expensive than Menchies per ounce. 55c vs 49c if I remember correctly. I think it's worth it, considering they also have an option to make a smoothie and they actually throw in the juice for free (they weigh your yogurt and toppings as normal and then throw in the liquid and blend it for you). In a selfish way, I'm really glad so many people seem to love Menchies. It's always crammed but there's always seats at YoYo's and the staff are super cheerful and attentive. Soon people will discover YoYo's and walking in there will be like walking into a sardine can. I guess I should enjoy it's relative unknownness while I can!
