Typical early June 110-degree day outside so I opted to pick up some art supplies for a new commissioned piece I'll be working on. Michaels has been one of my favorite stores for the last several years.
This location is conveniently located right on the frontage road of the 101 wedged smack dab in the middle of everything. Tons of ample parking with parking spots that are plenty wide to alleviate door-dings. The store and their restrooms are very clean. Employees were everywhere this Sunday morning with all of them checking on me and asking if I needed any assistance. Yay!
I headed back to the art section and grabbed what I needed and made my way up to the front of the store to check out. The store wasn't horribly busy and thus, I walked right up to the check out line. Gave the cashier the coupons I had (they let you double-dip at Michaels) so I got plenty of discounts. You don't ever and I do mean ever go into a Michaels store without first printing off coupons at home and/or showing the barcode to the cashier on your smartphone. Discounts and coupons are plentiful at Michaels and you're foolish if you're not taking advantage of them. At the bare minimum, you can usually get 40% off any one item and sometimes you can even get that amount off your entire purchase! It's a no-brainer. Use you coupons, people.
My only very, very minor gripe is that apparently artists and others come to Michaels to steal their high-quality paint pens. The downfall is they have now begun locking these items up under lock and key. You need to track down an employee to unlock the cage for you to retrieve the item(s) and it's kind of a drag. I totally get it, but for those of us who do pay for the items we intend to purchase - it is a bit of a pain.
Other than that, today's visit went off without a hitch just as they always do. I got the products I went in for and was in & out of the store in a matter of a few minutes. With the coupons and discounts and regular sale items, they will easily beat any online rate you can find and that includes Amazon. For all your art supply and craft needs, Michaels cannot be beat!
