This was an unexpected but highly enjoyable outdoor oasis. There were several out door trails some paved others not. We stayed on the paved path and saw lots of rabbits and other small creatures. The bridge overlooking the small water fall was a very rewarding treat for our short hike.
I highly suggest coming out early in the morning to beat the summer heat. Bring water and dress appropriately for the heat. The terrain is great for hiking as well as biking.
After our hike, we headed back to the visitors center, where we ate the packed lunches we had brought with us in the Cafe. The Cafe is very clean, spacious and airconditioned. The big windows allowed us to feel like we were enjoying lunch outdoors (food is not allowed outside). After the kids recharged we went to see the interactive exhibits. The kids were able to see, touch and smell various things. My daughter enjoyed the puzzles with sound effects, and my son the books and coloring areas.
This was an amazing way to fill about 3 hours for us. After enjoying the indoors we were able to come inside and extend the experience. The Center, from lobby, cafe, exhibits and bathrooms were very clean. The staff was very friendly and explained the different maps and activities to us.
There is no cost for admission, or for participating in any of the activities. Please keep that in mind when visiting and leave a donation if you can. I truly appreciate having such an amazing experience so close by. My kids had a blast, we will definitely be back soon.
