  • We have been to El Chorro many times. They are on the pricey side but usually worth every dollar spent. However, this visit was a little shock to us. We requested a table in front of the fireplace and were told the table is reserved for birthdays and anniversaries. Ok. We were fine with that. A little strange since there were very few people in the restaurant but we understood their policy. It was when we asked for plain rolls that we were taken back. The waitress was professional and very kind and explained there was a $7.00 up charge for "plain" rolls. El Chorro is famous for their stickey rolls. We said that was fine but the more I thought about it, the more this disturbs me. Really, a charge for different (and plain to boot) for 4 rolls. You do the math. This is not about money, it is about charging for a change in roll preference. Really shocking and disappointing that a restaurant of this caliber would need to charge for such a small thing. Maybe they could re-evaluate this decision. With so many great restaurants in the valley to choose from, we are thinking it will be a long time to return since they need to charge for such a small request.
