I have never had an MRI in my life. My eye doctor wanted me to have one and referred me to MRI of Arizona and send over my paperwork for them to do a brain MRI. A couple days later I received a phone call to make an appointment. At that point, I let them know I have never had one and I asked about the cost for what my eye doctor is requesting. I was advised it will cost about $698 altogether. The person on the phone asked if I have reached my deductible. I said "not even close." I asked a few times if $698 is the grand total thinking since they are in-network whatever insurance plan discounts don't cover I will have to pay myself. My thought was - worse comes to worse, I will pay $698 out of pocket. I made the appointment - experience was normal but I was not happy when I saw the bill. They billed the insurance company over $4k and my responsibility was over a thousand. I called to verify and they said there is no mistake.I talked to my insurance company and they said that MRI of AZ has submitted charges for 6 MRIs, not one. In my opinion, this is dishonest on their part. They didn't tell me the cost is $698 but times 6 because I need 6 MRIs. I explicitly asked them about the very total - they had the paperwork in front of them. The eye doctor didn't give me a copy of what he has requested. If I knew what it truly will cost, I wouldn't have made the appointment. Extremely disappointed in the way they misleaded me
