| - We had high hopes for Parkway Townhomes - Apartment Management Consultants LLC (AMC), when they took over Camden Summit. Those hopes have definitely been dashed! Management is very slow when it comes to repairs of any kind, and seems to blow off tenants when they have legitimate complaints.
The following is a list of issues we have had since AMC has taken over the property.
1. The Pool Area was closed for weeks during the summer, due to some type of chlorine dispensing problem. Another time it was closed for at least a week... Have no idea for what reason.
2. The entrance gate to the complex was not working for at least a solid month.
3. After the gate was fixed, the light for the key pad to enter, did not and still does not work.
4. Since the property was taken over by AMC, all residents are now charged for pest control every month ($2.00 and some change).
5. The Fitness Center was closed for a couple of months.
6. The areas around the dumpsters are not cleaned up in a timely manner, after the trash company picks up trash. Ewwwww!!
7. The Doggie Doo Doo Receptacles may go several days before they are emptied.
8. I'm not sure if there is Courtesy Patrol (Security), as we NEVER SEE THEM. From what we have heard; when the Courtesy Patrol is on property, they harass residents who are walking their dogs. Really???
As of recently, actually last night, we discovered a water leak in the garage. The water was coming from the apartment above, which was being renovated. We contacted the emergency maintenance, who arrived within 40 minutes. They were able to stop the steady stream, to dripping, which lasted an additional 12 hours or so (still dripping as this is being written). Needless to say, the ceiling was saturated and we were forced to park one of our vehicles outside of the garage. With the riff raff we have coming onto the property and the break-ins of apartments, you can imagine we weren't thrilled about parking in the outside parking areas. When we spoke with the office personnel, we were informed we would have to wait another day for the drywall to be repaired.
Since we have had problems in the past with heating and air-conditioning taking forever and day to be repaired, we decided to write a letter regarding the repairs to the ceiling in the garage and asked they merely sign that they had received it. Management refused to sign, stating they had to contact their corporate office. For crying out loud, we only asked it be signed for our records, in case we have difficulties with the repairs.
To make things worse, the Manager did not ask how we were doing, nor did she make the effort to speak with us. Instead, she stayed in her office while the leasing agent spoke to us. Score of Zero, when it comes to concern for the residents.
It should be noted, we have lived in the apartment complex for over 5 years. More than likely, we will not re-new our lease. It's sad to have a community that had such good promise, go to hell in a hand-basket. :(
Get your act together, AMC... Take care of your residents, like you appreciate them!
Update: August 27, 2017
So we ended up staying as our rent only went up $50.00. We only stayed as it was a toss up of paying for a moving company and also paying another deposit. We did the math and figured we would stay.
As of last month, we started to see new charges that we found to be outrageous.
1. The service fee (whatever that is) went up $2.00
2. We are still paying for pest control (why are we responsible for that?)
3. There is now a charge of "Real Estate Tax" (almost $10.00) -- WTH???
They nickel and dime you to death at Parkway Townhomes.
Updated: May 2, 2018
Unfortunately, there have been no changes to the property since my last update. The only pro I can give this complex, is the garage that is attached to the unit.
We were notified, upon renewal, the rent will be going up $175.00. From $1325.00 to $1500.00 for a two bedroom apartment with a 2 car garage. We are currently looking for a new abode, as this one is never going to get better. We, like so many others, will be moving out upon the completion of our lease.
