| - Awful experience so far. I've been dealing with some issues and decided that I would look in to the EAP my employer provides so that I could work through my issues. My EAP provides 4 appointments for free, and your intake appointment counts as one. They were able to get me in for my intake appt the day after I called, which I took as a good sign.
My intake was with a really great woman named Linda, who happened to be retiring that week. I was bummed, but figured I would get a good doctor and it was just intake, anyway, so no big deal that she wouldn't be my therapist. I had to wait three weeks for an appointment opening after my intake.
I get to my second appointment and I don't know that the doctor read much of my intake paperwork at all. The first half of my appointment was spent explaining everything all over again, so essentially intake part two. The second half of my appointment went all right, but 25 minutes isn't really a lot of time to get anywhere.
I scheduled my following two appointments, which were three weeks later and then two weeks after that. Today I got a call that my third appointment is cancelled. They told me the next available appointment isn't until the day AFTER my fourth appointment is scheduled for. They said that they can put me on the cancellation list and hope that something opens before then. I said I would rather see another doctor, and was told again that they could put me on the cancellation list. I then told them I would be looking in to another healthcare provider for my mental health needs. I was told that if I changed my mind, I could call back. Are you KIDDING ME?
Since I had to do intake 1.5 times and my third appointment was cancelled, I have been put in a position of waiting EIGHT WEEKS from my date of intake to have my first real appointment for much needed mental health counseling. Despicable.
