  • My impression of this place is 2 strikes, I'm out. My first visit to DW was when they were located on Ft Apache. I was disappointed with the menu. I didn't find it very appealing. I ended up getting the roasted vegetable omelet. It was what I would expect from a Waffle House. The service was slow and lackluster. People waiting for tables were lurching over us while we were eating. It was an uncomfortable experience. My second visit to DW was at the location on Russell in Gramercy. My friend wanted to go because he had a gift certificate. I was hesitant after my prior visit. He convinced me by saying that they had changed the menu and were under new management (I now think he was just trying to get me to go & had no insight on this one way or another). We arrived at around 11:30 on Sunday morning. There were about 40 people standing inside the door. There was no line. No way to tell where the hostess was hiding to get on a list. Many of the people waiting were standing next to the seated tables. My friends and I agreed that nothing they could serve would be worth dealing with this cluster f*ck. We left and went to Griddlecakes right down the street. That was the best decision that I made all week. The poor management, lack of customer control, and limited menu is why I will not be coming here again.
