  • Was referred here by my dentist because of some complications I had from a wisdom tooth extraction. Before referring me, my dentist took an X-ray, and examined my mouth, and with a tool, was able to replicate the pain I was feeling. I felt confident that he completely understood what the issue was and told me I had developed a neuroma in my mouth. He charged me 10 dollars for my copay. When I called in to confirm my appointment, they also told me it was going to be 10 dollars. Maybe 20 for another X-ray. I arrived early like they said and was seen well after my scheduled appointment time, but that is pretty standard almost anywhere. They took an X-ray, then the dentist came in, stuck his finger in my mouth, and said the tissue looks good, and although he didn't bother to identify the exact location of the pain, he recommended surgery to open up the gums and clean the area out. I told him I would feel more comfortable if he'd take the time to find the source of the pain before we did any surgery, but he did no further exploring. With or without sedation seemed to be my only choice. "So-and-so will work up a quote for you and will schedule a day for you to come back." It took quite a long time for so-and-so to work up the quote during which i went back to the waiting room. There was a woman on the phone calling patients to tell them the cost of their procedures. From the sound of it, they weren't too happy with their quoted price. "Well how much can you come up with?" seemed to be the go-to question. When i was called back to get my quote, it turned out to be about $700. I think I got all 4 wisdom teeth extracted for less. I said I needed to think about it and didn't schedule the procedure. The cost for my visit, during which they did less than my dentist, was $120. For an X-ray and a finger in my mouth. I asked why it was so much more than what they said on the phone. It was because "they probably didn't know there was a different specialist fee schedule." Funny thing was, the woman on the phone verified my insurance, correctly assumed i would only need an xray and exam, and acknowledged that I was referred to the specialist by my dentist before telling me the price. A trip to the dentist almost always sucks, but this place does very little to make the experience better.
