| - Oh, Crunch. How I try and try again to like you.
Let's cut to the chase here: I pay roughly $12 a month for this gym ($10 monthly, plus $25 yearly fee). And for that price, it's totally worth it to continue on. For $12 a month, I get to work out with my other local friends and take classes. (Although I joined in the first month they opened - I believe the membership price to include classes may have gone up since then.)
But it's just not a gym I feel like hanging out a long time in. It feels like working out in a big warehouse, where sound reverberates funny and everything is a little dark. Perhaps I'm spoiled by my other gym (yes, I am THAT level of gym rat, with two memberships), but Crunch is just 'okay' to me.
However, you can't argue with the value. I think that's the main selling point here. They have a steady rotation of classes, personal trainers (although that is an additional fee, of how much, I don't know, since that info doesn't appear to be readily accessible online), and a good selection of weights. I think, compared to another 'value' gym like Planet Fitness, this is a better bet if you are serious about exercise. You are allowed to deadlift here, and there is no 'lunk alarm.'
The highlight of this gym for me, is Sarah's Zumba class on Monday & Wednesday nights. It's a less-Latin, more-hip-hop Zumba class, but her choreography is fun, and it's very high-intensity. And for me, great choreography is DEFINITELY worth $12 a month!
