  • I've been to Mix n Mac three times and have always had an enjoyable experience. Here are details on the 6 different items I have tried: 1. Spicy Mac - sausage and jalapenos. Pleasantly spicy and a nice combination, and I don't care much for spicy food in the first place. 2. Mac's Brisket - the brisket is surprisingly sweet and was a bit dry. The coleslaw helped soften the drier pieces of meat. I liked it but my friend didn't. 3. Italian Mac - my favorite! beef, pepperoni, basil, and tomato sauce. 4. Meatball Sub - my least favorite. It had the same sweet sauce as the brisket, but didn't go well with the meatball or cheese flavors. 5. Mexican Mac - chorizo, beef, jalapenos, tortillas, and cilantro. It was actually kind of bland. They may have forgotten the chorizo, as it wasn't salty or spicy. The cilantro and tortillas were a tasty addition to macaroni. 6. Veggie Mac - very good! mushrooms, tomatoes, scallions, and spinach. I love the Macs; it's a "mixed", haha, opinion on the sandwiches. When you place your order, they combine your choice of noodles (regular or whole wheat) with their standard cheese sauce or a vegan option. The sauce is a lovely bechamel-based, cheddary (is that a word?), creamy sauce with a little bit of garlic. I don't usually like garlic but love Mix n Mac's sauce. Then they add your mix-ins. I agree that the menu is a bit confusing, as it sounds like the toppers are free, when in fact they aren't. They really should be free; it's just a shake of crumbled tortillas or Doritos. Then they smother it with a lovely thick layer of cheese and bake it until it's bubbly. It's never taken more than 10 minutes. The portion may look small at first glance, but realize that the tray is actually quite deep. I can't finish an entire Solo Mac and neither can my 200 pound friend. It comes in a foil container that stores easily in the refrigerator, and you can heat the same container in your oven to enjoy leftovers. I have been assisted by different staff each time, and they are consistently polite and helpful. The restaurant is clean and cheerful and I actually rather like the high-top orange plastic seats. Yes, the music is a little bit too loud at times but it has never bothered me enough to ask them to turn it down. There are a few things they could do to make the macs even better, such as dice the mix-ins more finely and offer additional (and free) toppers, like bread crumbs or potato chips. I think they have a good product and it's nice to see something besides the shoddy chain restaurant yuckfests that are in this same strip mall.
