| - I love a great deal - and who doesn't? But I seriously love good deals. I love hunting down good deals, negotiating a good deal. Spontaneous, random, unexpected good deals bring a special joy to my life. So when my thermostat recently bit the dust I turned to craigslist on the off chance someone might be selling a cheap one of the kind I was looking for. Sure enough, this led me to Vegas Liquidation.
I'd called ahead of time to check if they still had any of the thermostats in stock since the price they'd advertised them to be on the craigslist was only a dirt cheap $10. I was told that yes, they had a few left so I headed on over. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this place is very close to my house. The young guy at the counter was really nice, very friendly and helpful. He asked if it was my first time at the store and when I said yes he began telling me all about the store, what store of merchandise they get, and showed me where the different things were located.
I was only in the market for a thermostat that day, however I am definitely telling my landlord and the maintenance people about this place because they had lots of cheap stuff that I know they could use at the apartments where I live. If you are looking for tools there were a good selection of Dewalt and Ryobi items, flat screen TVs, lots of hardware like door knobs, screws nails, etc. I saw good prices on hammocks and outdoor furniture, lawn chairs, gardening items. There's really too much to list but I'd say it was like a mini Home Depot but way lower prices.
In regards to prices, I felt the thermostat I got was an especially good deal. However, I mentioned I'd seen the $10 price online. In the store the same one was marked as $17.50. Considering the same one is also carried at Home Depot for $24.49, The $17.50 price is still less but it's not a rediculously good bargain like $10. I'd say that was true for most things I saw there. There's a good deal and then there's an rediculously good deal. I saw very few prices I'd say fell into the latter category. Which is why I'm giving them 4 out of 5 stars.
The four stars is certainly a reflection of their wonderful employee, the cleanliness and organization of the store (lots of discount places are a mess) and the ease of doing business with them. I'll surely be shopping there again. Although, I was told they are changing to a larger space at a different location. Hopefully that will close to me too, the exact location was still unknown. I look forward to checking the new spot out though. Bigger space means more cheap stuff. And boy do I love deals!
