| - It seems silly to write a review for a theater that has obviously undergone startling changes on the outside (and the last time I was inside, HOLY scaffolding!), but if I can snatch a FTR, I will! HAH!
For what its worth, the old theater was a classic in South Calgary; a perfect location with eating and amenities nearby, perhaps the busiest Starbucks in the entire city, and parking that would infuriate the most hardened Delhi driver. The seats were comfortable, the screen and sound as good as you can get from a Famous Players (which is to say, passable), and the concessions were always jam-packed with sweets and overflowing popcorn.
I have been coming here since the late 90's, and here are some random thoughts on good times:
- Deep Blue Sea where we eagerly re-enacted Samuel L. Jackson's rousing speech chomped short by a roided-up shark;
- first few dates with Kat, including watching Monsters Inc. and waiting in line for the first Harry Potter on opening night. Thank you for sticking around!
- midnight screening of the Dark Knight, with a line to stretch around the entire building until it was like a snake eating its tail.
This has been the site of many great memories, and I am excited to see what has been done to the place - as soon as Hollywood offers a good movie worth its salt.
