  • This Farmer's Market is amazing. With the local food trend, I have to say that I really believe places like Madison (and other areas in the Midwest) were the original local food. Each family or group sets up shop on Saturday mornings to sell their amazing goods. I bought some fresh cheese curds from Bleu Mont (delicious) and a small plant at another stand. I also got fresh Wisconsin honey for a relative. There was so much other produce that I wanted to try, but because I was coming from out of town I didn't think I could finish it! The spicy cheesy bread is a must. Their loaves are expensive, but they are also huge. I'm amazed that the farmer's market attracts such a large number of vendors. I spent the first half of the walk around the market totally enjoying myself. The second half started to get long, and tiny feelings of panic started to grow in me as I realized I was just being herded along by the giant crowd, haha. As usual, there were people from so many different groups with signs or handing out literature about an issue or belief. The capitol building is a "citadel of democracy", and so it was refreshing to me to see people out doing their thing.
