| - Came here on the Monday of the Family Day long weekend for the 2018 Canadian International Autoshow. It's definitely not my first time attending, but it is my first time writing about it. I wasn't overly shocked with the amount of people in attendance, since it was a long weekend, but if you're not a fan of crowds, I would suggest going on a weekday. I had purchased my tickets with the CAA discount which was quite a deal since original ticket prices were $24 and I got mine for $16. If you're a CAA member, make sure you make use of that discount.
I'm not too sure what the parking situation was like at the event since I had walked over from the Brookfield Place after having lunch at the Marché. It might be worth your while to do the same if you don't mind the walk since the restaurant validates parking. I wouldn't be surprised if it was pricey over at the event parking lot since it's downtown after all. Taking the public transportation wouldn't be such a bad idea either if you don't want to deal with parking. The MTCC is quite close to the Union Station and the bus terminal. Just a quick 5 to 10 minute walk is all it takes. There were a lot of staff managing crowds that day at the event since there were people travelling to and from the North and South buildings for the different exhibits. Having several entrances made it more difficult to manage the crowds as people were traveling in all directions. Limiting the number of entrances may allow the staff to manage the flow of people better.
At the autoshow, you'll obviously see a lot of cars. Cars ranging from different brands, different prices, and for different purposes. If it's your first time attending, you don't want to miss the exotic/super cars which are located on the lowest floor away from the main attractions. Sometimes it's quite easy to miss since there's only one accessible point that will take you to the exhibition. I'm no car expert so I'm not going to start talking about every brand, but my favourite cars this year at the exhibit would have to be the Mercedez-Benz Project One AMG and the Rolls Royce Phantom. The MTCC would have to be one of the larger event spaces able to host the Autoshow every year, but I wouldn't mind if the event is hosted elsewhere next year for a change.
Be prepared to be on your feet, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes, cause it's quite a bit of walking around. You really notice how much walking is actually involved until you've walked the entire show from building to building, up and down the escalators. This review went from what was supposed to be about the event space to my autoshow experience, so hopefully you didn't mind.
