| - I was visiting from out of town and went to breakfast with a friend, a few days ago. It looked like a cute little breakfast spot, in a hip part of town, the food when it came out looked good, but as soon as I started eating, was disappointed. I had the two egg special (scrambled) with bacon, herb spuds and a biscuit with a side of gravy. My scrambled eggs were fine, although a lack of flavor makes me think they weren't fresh eggs, my herb spuds were the consistency of cold French fries and only lukewarm, again not flavorful, despite obvious herbs on them. These two things alone would normally make me think it might just be a bad morning for the wait staff and my plate had sat under the heat lamp too long. It was the thin, Jim Beam's-looking bacon that had crunch but nothing else and the bland gravy that made me think Zada Jane was all street appeal. The ingredients didn't taste fresh, the gravy tasted like it was from a mix (if it was from scratch the components must've been lacking to begin with), and the coffee was only, not-unbearable, on top of an unsmiling wait staff. Not sure Charlotte has anything better, so I might be back, but I won't care either way.
