I wanted to like this place. I had seen Insomnia Cookies downtown, so when I saw one pop up in Lakewood I was pretty excited. We stopped in around 8pm and picked up 6 cookies to go. We tried the M&M, oatmeal, and chocolate chunk. My overall experience was... Meh. Forgettable. Overrated.
Sure, there is the novelty of being able to get cookies (sometimes delivered) until 3am. I'm sure they will do well in their location, catering to people leaving the various bars in the area.
What we got was 6 shelf temperature cookies stuffed into small paper bags. How many cookies do you have to buy to get them boxed? Because the small bags were not the best packaging. If they were warm at all when they served them, they weren't at all within the 10 minutes it took for us to get home. I had expected warm, gooey, straight-from-the-oven cookies but that's not what I got.
The only cookie that was slightly gooey was the chocolate chunk... But it was not warm or fresh at all. Overall the cookies were not even that good. They had a commercial look and taste but were not as good as Mrs.Fields or Otis Spunkmeyer. There are so many other bakeries in this area that serve up better cookies than this. If you're craving a late night cookie, you are better off keeping some Keeblers in your pantry. Or better yet, buy some from one of Lakewoods' many other locally owned bakeries during the day & enjoy those at 3am instead. These cookies are just not special.
