| - Our first trip here on the recommendation of friends for her birthday.. They had been once before and loved it.. We had an early reservation (5:30).. The expectations were unfortunately overhyped.. My wife and I ordered the filet, poached lobster, Diablo shrimp, Flemings salad, loaded potato, sprouts, Turtle pie, and started with calamari. The calamari was good - the loaded potato was the highlight of the meal. They have a black Hawaiian sea salt that is great. Shame we are talking about salt for a prime steakhouse.
The steak was ok - but not $60 ok.. had to be sent back as it was rare, as in purple color. Came back out fine but the overall taste was not as good as what I fix at home - and nowhere near Ruth Cris or Morton's..
The lobster was a little rubbery but not overly done. The diablo shrimp was a good addition - but 3 medium sized shrimp versus the "colossal" they claimed was disappointing.
They asked at check in who the Bday was going to be for and we advised. Not once was that ever acknowledged at the table.
Our friends were embarrassed at the meal after hyping this up for a month. I always hate that and have been head over heels for a place, only to be bad the time we take out friends.
Also - pass on the turtle pie. We took home to eat and ended up throwing in the trash. Just wasn't good. Our friends got the lava cake - that was solid!
Overall, the food is not bad.. it just wasn't good. And when you drop $500 for a table of 4... the food should be spectacular. Perhaps going during the busy time would make the food better - but based on last night, we won't be back. Too many better options out there to spend your money on..
