  • I volunteer at this place, and I really am impressed how dedicated this animal shelter is to their animals. I wish more people knew about this shelter, since it's tucked way back behind Liberty Market/Postinos/Gilbert Farmer's market. It is pretty much volunteer run, and is a labor of love for many of the people who work there. I work in the cat house, and the volunteers here take care of and make valuable observations about the individual cats which might help lead to possible matches to potential adopters. Friends for Life is also not a kill shelter (for space) and compassionately cares for all their animals. They also don't overcrowd the facility with too many dogs and cats, to allow adequate quality living space for the animals, and so many times they do have to turn away people who want to drop off animals, due to their space restrictions. If you are looking for a dog or cat to adopt, please don't overlook this place. Please come visit. There are a lot of deserving cats and dogs here who would love to be taken home!!
