  • Called to get a minor leak in a shutoff valve going to a backflow preventer corrected. Missed the day that they were scheduled for, called back and they came out the next day. Was told they couldnt fix the valve and had to replace the entire backflow preventer and the two shutoff valves connecting to it. At this point I should have gotten a second opinion because I really thought they should be able to replace a single valve. Long story short they quoted me 368 to replace the part. I agreed, took them less than an hour to complete. The part at big box stores is 80...a total of about an hour of work at the house..you can figure the hourly rate yourself. Also, the quote they gave me didn't include an additional 25 for a trip charge or taxes. So the final cost was over 400. They get two stars only because they fixed the problem. Plumber left a mess of solder and ptfe tape for me to clean up.
