| - I like to check out new hotels when they open in Las Vegas so I booked a room here for my most recent trip. I originally booked a room for $88 per night which I thought was already a pretty good rate. However, a week before my stay I found out about a special that they were having and ended up paying only $48 per night and got a free bottle of champagne with my reservation. Score! The room was a little smaller than what I'm used to for Vegas, but it didn't feel cramped and though not luxe was modern and comfortable enough. And since it's so new, the public spaces looked nice and clean.
I must say, though, there are definitely things about Lucky Dragon that could use some improvement:
- Service: None of the valet guys/bellhops helped my sister and I nor our driver with our bags when we pulled up, and even after they saw us head into the wrong building with our suitcases because we didn't know where to go, they didn't even bother to redirect us :/
Also, when I called guest services on our second day because we did not receive any bottled water, the person I spoke with insisted it was only to be offered on the first day of our stay. When I pointed out that it stated on their website that it was complimentary for each day of our stay, she was short with her response ("ok ok") and said that water would be sent to our room though she did not sound very happy about it. It's always such a bummer when you're made to feel like you're not valued as a customer/guest and like you're being a bother when that's not your intention at all!
- Housekeeping: The website states that each room gets complimentary tea but we did not have any in our room and had to call down for it. We did not get any washcloths when we came back to our room in the afternoon on the second day of our stay. In addition, when we checked in I noticed that there were small hairs on my bed and on the bathroom counter. (Lint did stick to the bedding pretty easily though.) The glasses in the room didn't look super clean so I ended up not using them to rinse my mouth with water when I brushed my teeth. I'm a germophobe so those kind of things gives me the heebie jeebies.
- No blower in the bathroom! I would like to meet a person whose fart don't stank lol! Otherwise you will want to make sure to have air freshener with you!
- Limited dining options: You have to really be in the mood for Asian food. Otherwise, you will just have to eat out all the time! FYI the website states that room service is offered, but it actually is not. SLS nearby has more dining options, but it didn't seem like a very "walkable" neighborhood so I did not make my way over there to eat.
- Super small casino: I don't gamble but I could tell there wasn't much of a variety of games and it was more empty than full the couple of times I passed through. If you are going here just out of curiosity and not to eat or gamble, just know that there isn't much to see and you will be in and out real quick.
Other things to note:
* The light on the smoke detector is bright and flashes all night long. The display light on the clock radio is bright also, but there is a setting to make it dimmer.
* The only full-length mirror is on the inside of the left door of the wardrobe compartment on the right.
* The hotel room elevators are right at the hotel doors which doesn't seem ideal for safety issues, and there weren't always valet/bellhop guys at he door.
* The windows had a pink tint from the inside which I did not mind since pink is my favorite color :p
* The pool area was not open during our visit.
* If you don't have a car and are doing ride share, it costs about $10 give or take a dollar or two to get to most hotels on the Strip.
* They seem to strictly adhere to the check-in at 3 policy. I arrived before noon and ended up paying $20 to check in early.
My final take:
Would I stay at Lucky Dragon again? It wouldn't be one of my top choices, but if I wanted to save money, then yes, I would consider staying here again since as of right now, on many dates you can book a room for under $100 a night and though there are areas in need of improvement, the hotel was overall decent in my opinion.
