I anxiously awaited the opening of Social a year ago or so and I've been here probably a dozen times since. I can't say I have had a consistent experience, some menu items I love, some I hate. Let's start with the love:
The Buffalo Chicken and Spicy Chipotle Sausage pizzas. Both are incredibly tasty and made with a thin crust. Fresh ingredients with a good ratio of cheese to ingredient. Hate: the Mushroom Bianca pizza. It appears that a mushroom "paste" is slathered on this pizza. Just not my thang.
Alcohol - specials are good here! For example, Sundays they have $5 Bloody Mary's. Not Pittsburgh's best Bloody, but certainly not the worst, and the price is reasonable. They also have $2 beer specials and a nice array to choose from.
The service here isn't awful. In the summer it gets busy and you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. Actually, in the cooler months they have this patio area covered with heated lamps. I dig it. Although, with busy Penn Avenue just a couple feet away it is a little noisy.
I'm just glad there is a decent bar/restaurant, like Social, within walking distance from my house. Because parking at Bakery Square just aint fun.
