| - So I'll preface this by saying that I am not a vegan, or a vegetarian, or gluten free. I eat pretty much anything...except maybe the stuff that this place serves.
Having been pleasantly surprised by a really awesome 100% vegan restaurant in Raleigh, I was excited to try this place and have a little something healthy and different. Ordering was sort of a dart throwing process, since most everything looked good/interesting on paper and I really couldn't picture any of the dishes. The end result though, was more of a dry, bland, oddly-textured mess. The parsnip fritters and sauce and part of the banana split were good, but the rest really didn't do anything for me at all. Perhaps we didn't order right, but as I said, it was sort of a guessing game since I really couldn't picture many of the dishes.
All in all, perhaps I'd feel differently if I actually had dietary restrictions (self-imposed or otherwise); but as it is, this place just didn't do it for me at all. And I'd venture a guess that the vast majority of my friends would agree - just not a really wide appeal if you don't have that very specific diet as a preference.
The other thing was that the service was terrible. The server seemed really offended that we only ate 1/4 of one of the dishes and offered no remedy (not that we would have taken it). The carafe of water was empty about halfway through. It took him a while to notice and then he picked it up and never brought it back. So we had no beverage at all for half of our very dry, bland meal.
