I'm not sure if you use the word tuck-shop in Canada, but to me, it means a rubbish little school shop where you can buy unhealthy snacks and sweets. This places is NOTHING like the tuck shop at my school! This Tuck shop is awesome!! We probably did tuck shop all wrong. I went in a group of four (all of us looove good food...) and we were so excited by all the gorgeous starters that we ended up ordering all of them...and then ignoring the main courses. This meant that we got to try lots of teeny bites of heaven (rather than munching a whole dish each.) If you have friends that can cope with sharing, it was actually a really nice way to try lots of their dishes. - The scallops and oysters were both perfect. - Stuffed courgette flowers - Ohmygoodness! I could have eaten plates and plates of these!! They were sooooo delicious! - The crispy fish tacos - I probably wouldn't have ordered this, but my friends were all up for it - the flavours went perfectly together. - Jerk hen - This was a jerk flavoured chicken sitting on black bean purée. I loved it. - Beef tartar - This was pretty good. - Pork Belly - I am a bit of a pork belly snob, but this was really good. It was tougher than I'm used to in Japanese restaurants (there is no way you could cut this version with chopsticks) but the flavour was gorgeous. - Mushrooms on toast - I am pretty sure the description was posher, but it was essentially delicious mushrooms on toast. This was delightful too! This was probably one of the priciest meals I had in Montreal...but it was still really worth it! Yum!! **I wasn't very impressed with our waitress...but the food was so good that it seems a shame for them to lose a star just for that.**
