| - I drive a thoroughly modified, out-of-warranty BMW. As you might expect, this is not the cheapest, simplest vehicle to maintain. Usually I try to be more rational with my purchases, but I'm a car nerd, and I like what I like. Thankfully I've found Foreign Car Specialists. Aaron is a BMW wizard!
I've had several different things done on my car at FCS. Most recently, I was bombing around some back roads when my car gave the dreaded limp mode message: ENGINE MALFUNCTION, REDUCED POWER. I pulled off at the next intersection, and the car wouldn't start. I have a scanner that lets me check trouble codes, and there were like 8 different electrical issues. I had my car towed to FCS, fearing the worst.
Thankfully, Aaron was able to troubleshoot the issue. After working on the troubleshooting for an hour, he called me to update me on the likely source of the issue and ask for my permission to keep working, before ringing up a bigger bill. The problem was either in the car's wiring, or this one specific electrical junction box. After some more time, he updated me that it was in fact this junction box, which carries the signals from all these sensors the engine computer thought had gone bad. Aaron quoted me an altogether reasonable cost for replacing the box, ordered it, and installed it the next day once the part arrived. My car is once again back to running at full strength, and after the engine not wanting to start at all, I was just happy that this was a 3-figure repair bill. Phew!
Overall, highly recommended. Although hopefully I can go at least a while longer before I have to make a return visit, as long as my car decides to cooperate.
