  • Buying a new car is never fun. In fact, I'd rather have another root canal than buy a car. Anyway, my trusty Subaru was just this side of needing life support. Although I loved Scooby, she needed the plug pulled, thus our pilgrimage to Mark Kia. My husband and I chose Mark Kia, as we had heard the ads on the radio, and felt it was a good option. We knew we wanted a Soul, and they had manual tranny cars with minimal bells and whistles, which is what I wanted. Our salesman was fairly new, and this sale was pretty much a done deal. Sukhpreet was knowledgeable on the Soul and its features. Not knowing if we could get financing, we elected to look at that first. We gave Sukhpreet our parameters, did the necessary application, and low and behold, we qualified. Of course, our ideal payment and Kia's were on two different hemispheres. We told them no deal, give us Scooby's key back and we will be on our way. Well, if that didn't bring salesmen out of the woodwork, I don't know what would have. To make a painfully long story somewhat short, we finally agreed on a payment. I would suggest to the salesmen, don't think just because I'm a woman I don't have brass kahunas and will negotiate with the best of you. Time warpping forward, we signed the finance paperwork and shuffle back to the showroom to pick up the new member of our family. Only one person knows the whereabouts of Hammy, and he finds us in the showroom. This is where service goes above and beyond. One of the salesman, Bob, who helped our salesman, noted a scratched wheel rim, so had it switched out to a different one. By this time we had spent about 2.5 hours at the dealership with no end in sight. I asked our salesman how much longer it would be, as we were hungry and wanted lunch. Without hesitation, he drove us to a local restaurant and waited for us to have lunch. When we got back, Hammy was ready for delivery. We looked it over, but it was under a cover with not a lot of light. It looked okay there, so we drove it to Scooby to clean her out. In the sun we observed some scratches and dents not visible in the shade. I called it to our salesmans attention. He went for a manager who also observed them. By this time, we were too tired to hang around. Jacob said to call on Monday, we bought on Friday, arrange a time to get them addressed. I called on Monday, brought the car in on Wednesday, and the body shop fixed them. All in all, good experience for buying a car. I would suggest not having the designated smoking area near the awning where you deliver new cars. Not only does it stink, there were cigarette butts all over the ground. Not professional at all.
